What are some of the requirements for licensure?

An applicant for licensure whose application is based upon credit granted for the completion of courses of study in a country where English is not the principal language spoken shall demonstrate proficiency in English by passing an examination in English proficiency acceptable to the department or by passing a licensing examination acceptable to the department given in English or take an oral examination. You must be board certified and if it has been 15 years since licensure exam or 10 years since ABMS exam, you will be required to take the SPEX or COMVEX.

As an IMG, what is the minimum number of PGT need to qualify for licensure?

You must have completed two years of post-graduate training in the US in a program approved by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or in Canada in a program accredited by the ACGME and approved by the board.

Am I required to earn CME hours if I was recently licensed/reinstated?

No. The CME requirement will apply to all renewal and reinstatement applications after the first renewal or in the case of an applicant who has never renewed, after initial medical licensure. First time renewing physicians are required to complete the online New Physician Orientation Program prior to the renewal of a license.
